Why join Cub Scouts?
Cub Scouting provides a noncompetitive, team-oriented atmosphere that focuses on teaching life skills, promoting physical fitness and developing character.
Our Pack meets approximately once per month at St. Eugene or at other nearby locations. Meetings typically last about 90 minutes.
Cub Scouts work together to complete "Adventures" and earn awards as a group.
Frequently Asked Questions:

Starting in 1st Grade, Scouts will need to purchase a uniform shirt (approx. $33). Our Pack is usually able to cover any other costs (camping fees, food, pinewood derby cars, and other supplies) through its popcorn sale fundraiser, but special events and trips may cost extra.

$12 annual fee to Three Harbors Council
$20 annual fee to Pack 397
$15 for Scout Life magazine subscription (optional)
Do I have to attend every meeting? No, we understand that families have conflicting schedules and are very flexible. Our meetings are designed to help Scouts achieve their grade-specific requirements, so attending meetings will help keep them on track. Most activities can be easily performed at home, so that Scouts can easily make up anything that they miss at a meeting.
Do I need to be an outdoors expert? No. No specific background or knowledge is required AT ALL. We welcome any skills or experiences that Scouts and their parents can offer. We all follow the Scout Motto to "Do Your Best."
Examples of Pack Activities
Pinewood Derby
The Pinewood Derby is one of the most recognizable Cub Scout events. Scouts are invited to create a derby car from a block of wood and put their engineering skills to the test in a fun-filled evening of racing and awards.
Camping Trips
Our pack travels to one of the area Boy Scout camps each fall for an overnight campout (staying in a cabin).
